D FILMS ENTERS SPECIALTY U.S. MARKET WITH THE ACQUISITION OF
ALL U.S. RIGHTS TO CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED MAX MANUS

For immediate release

Toronto, Ontario – May 4, 2010 – – D FILMS, a dynamic and respected Canadian distribution boutique, will enter the U.S. specialized distribution market with the acquisition of all U.S. rights to the acclaimed historical epic MAX MANUS. The announcement of the deal was made today by Jim Sherry, President and CEO of D Films and by Susan Wendt, Head of Sales for TrustNordisk.

D FILMS is currently representing MAX MANUS in Canada where the film has had a very positive critical and audience reaction to date. The rousing historical epic tells the true story of Max Manus, one of Europe’s most celebrated World War II-era resistance fighters and a member of the fearless underground group known as the “Oslo Gang.” MAX MANUS, which is Norway’s top-grossing domestic release in three decades and was Norway’s official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2009 Academy Awards®, has enjoyed a limited release in Canada to date. With the acquisition of U.S. rights to MAX MANUS, D Films plans a release for the film in select U.S. markets later this Spring. MAX MANUS had its U.S. premiere as the opening Night Film at the Minneapolis Film Festival on April 21, 2010, with 91 year-old Gunnar Sonsteby in attendance. Sostenby was the real-life hero depicted in the film and leader of the “Oslo Gang.”

“We are proud to bring this film to a North American audience,” said Jim Sherry. “We believe that entering the U.S. theatrical market, albeit in a limited platform capacity, strengthens our position in the international market-place and is consistent with our business plan. We appreciate TrustNordisk’s confidence in our ability to give MAX MANUS a meaningful theatrical release Stateside.”

Head of Sales at TrustNordisk, Susan Wendt, stated: “D Films has done an excellent job for MAX MANUS in Canada and we’re confident that they will do the same releasing the film in the U.S. as well. We look forward to continuing our good co-operation with them.”

MAX MANUS has already been sold to 30 territories worldwide, including the UK, France, Germany, Australia and Japan. It is directed by Norwegian duo Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg from a screenplay by Thomas Nordseth-Tiller from Manus’ autobiographical books.

The deal was negotiated by Jim Sherry, President and CEO of D Films and by Susan Wendt, Head of Sales for TrustNordisk.
