ROB STEWART’S REVOLUTION BOASTS LARGEST OPENING WEEKEND GROSS FOR A CANADIAN DOCUMENTARY SINCE SHARKWATER
April 15, 2013. Toronto, ON – REVOLUTION, director Rob Stewart’s Award Winning follow-up to the hit film SHARKWATER, opened this weekend on the largest number of Canadian screens for any Canadian documentary. Playing now in theatres across the country, REVOLUTION has grossed just over $130K in three days.
With impressive pre-release group sales, the film continues to attract large numbers of students and educators in the week leading up to Earth Day. “The reaction to the film by youth has been amazing,” said Jim Sherry, President and Founder of D Films. “Their enthusiasm and love for the planet is inspiring and we hope that they continue to be ambassadors for the film and its message.
“In order to reflect the filmmakers’ push towards environmental education, $25,000; ten scholarships for $2,500 each will be awarded to Canadian students who are committed to creating a sustainable society for future generations—courtesy of D Films, NBC Universal and Metro, in a joint effort.”
